Alex was a three-sport (volleyball, basketball and track) athlete participating in each for all four years of her high school career after graduating in 2011. She was a four-year starter on the basketball team, scoring 1,311 points (3rd all-time in Wellsboro history), a four-time NTL West 1st Team All-Star, NTL West MVP, and NTL West Offensive Player of the Year. In her sophomore year she was named to the Williamsport Sun-Gazette All-Area 2nd Team, the Elmira Star Gazette All-Twin Tiers 1st Team, and WETM Winter Sports Top 10 Area Athletes. Her junior year she was part of the Williamsport Sun Gazette All-Area 1st Team, Towanda Daily Review All-Region 1st Team, and was the WAHS Holiday Tournament MVP. Her senior year she was named 3rd Team All-State. Her basketball teams won the NTL three (2007-08, 2008-09, 2010-11) of her four years.

In track Alex placed 3rd in the District IV Championships in the 100m hurdles and was a state semi-finalist in the 100m hurdles. She helped the Lady Hornets win the NTL in 2009-10 season along with placing 3rd in the 4x100m and 2nd in the 4x400m relay in districts and was 4th in the 4x400m relay at states.

After graduation Alex attended Le Moyne College in Syracuse to play basketball while studying Physics with a concentration in Civil Engineering. She earned the Le Moyne College Athletics James Welter Academic Merit Award her sophomore year, MVP, Woman Athlete of the Year, and Northeast-10 Conference All-Conference 3rd Team her junior year, and was MVP, Rev. J.J. O'Brien Senior Athlete Achievement Award winner, Northeast-10 Conference All-Conference First Team, Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Star First Team, and CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team her senior year. She finished her career 8th all-time with 1,234 points.
