Bret York is a 1979 graduate of Mansfield High School. He played Soccer and Track for 4 years, Basketball for 3, and Baseball for 2. He first started league bowling in 1979. In 1983 he became the 3rd Tioga County Bowler to bowl an 800 series. He bowled his first of eleven 300 games in 1986, six 299 games, and two of 298. Bret was a Gold Medalist in Keystone Games in 2009 in Scratch Singles with a 797, and with Matt Williams, a Gold Medalist in 2024 in Scratch Doubles with a 1494, a Keystone Games State Record.
Bret was inducted into the Lycoming County Bowling Hall of Fame in 2022, where he holds the county record with 17 titles. Bret has the Assistant Director of Bowling for the Keystone State Games for the last 14 years.
