Ira is a 2008 graduate of Cowanesque Valley. He was a four-year starter in both Football and Baseball. He was an Elmira Star Gazette Honorable Mention at guard, a 1st team all-conference defensive end, and the 2008 NTL Baseball MVP.
Ira went to Thaddeus Stevens College, where he was an all-conference defensive end and a member of the National Seaboard Conference Championship team.
