Steve graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1985. As a basketball player he was League MVP, and All-State Honorable Mention in 1985. Steve started teaching in Wellsboro in 1991. He has coached youth sports through varsity for over 30 years. He was head Baseball coach from 1993-95, and later again from 2021-23, winning the NTL title in 2021.
Steve was the Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach under Keith Tombs from 1993-1995, and later took over as head coach from 1995–2009, and again from 2019-22, where he had undefeated league championships in 1997-98. His 1997 team took second in District IV. He won the NTL again in 2008, and won the NTL Showdown in 2022.
In addition to coaching, Steve has been the Wellsboro Football announcer for 33 years.
